Heidi Sheppard, Artist

My artworks have spanned 30 years, making clay objects, drawings, paintings and photographs.  I began creating a body of work based on inspirations from Cape Cod, where I have vacationed for nearly 20 summers and have also included works inspired by a day trip to Cape Henlopen in Lewes, DE.  My work is evolving with different palette of colors and drawing materials, to reflect the current state of my internal life and an upended world.

 

Much of my work reflects my questions, emotions, growth, and experiences, while other pieces are purely abstractions of photographs.   All of it is an exploration of composition, movement, gesture, rhythm, color and line with the focus on how the stones or shells relate to each other, the paper, colors, textures and the intended story.
